Suelta la Sopa

Isn’t it funny how when you’re dating someone your friends will treat him nice and tell you how great he is? The second you drop him or vice versa, sueltan la sopa (the truth comes out – literal translation = let the soup loose).

When I was 23 I dated a guy that a mutual friend introduced to me. She told me he was oh so wonderful, she told him I have big boobs. So there ya go. We were a match!

On to the point of my story, reasons why it didn’t work out:

1. He picked me up for the movies once after going to watch football at one of the casinos. He would burp silently in the theatre but I could tell you everything he ate from the aroma it left behind.

2. He was a vampire for Halloween. He kept wearing the vampire teeth long after Halloween was over.

3. He liked to play the air guitar at all times.

4. He had a name for his car and then named mine as well.

5. He had Brandon (90210) hair. I love me some Brandon but if you’re not Brandon, don’t try to have his hair.

6. He said “that’s intense” and “Snap” at all the wrong times. Kind of like how Joey from friends used the universal sign for quotes.

7. Last but not least, he couldn’t pronounce my name. EVER! As far as he was concerned my name was E-mail.

Thanksgiving came along and his family was not going to be here. I met Alfonso while I was dating him and wanted to invite Alfonso over to meet my family. Side note: While I was dating I never invited anyone over to meet my family unless I thought it was going somewhere. I never invited the Intense Vampire over and never called him again, nor him me.

After this happens, my friends all make fun of him and tell me what a doofus he was. They could have said that while I was his girl (that’s how he asked me to date him exclusively, “will you be my girl” – so 4th grade). I knew he was the biggest nerd ever. He was just a little pasa tiempo. I’m assuming I was to him as well. Since he went to Mazatlan for Xmas and brought a girl back with him. I think she dumped him. That’s intense!!

When my friends break up with their boyfriends I try not to rag on the guy right away just in case the break up doesn't take.

PS I love Friends.

He called you "E-Mail"? Ha! Razón para dejarlo!
Glad that you met Alfonso and that the "Vampire" is in someone else's cave!

Cuidate!

Bev - I know, I wait too. It was obvious this one wasn't going to last though.

Coco - Yep e-mail, can you believe that? I'd always correct him and he would go back to e-mail. He even wrote a letter to a friend of mine like 3 mos later and he spelled my name just like that. It's good story telling though!
